UUPN SUCCESS STORIES: Dmytro Yagunov's latest book, Penitentiary system of The book has been approved and recommended by the State Department of Ukraine for Execution of Punishment as a student book for A Chevening scholar from Odesa, Dmytro is viewed by many at UUPN as one of the brightest and high-achieving British alumni.His main research interests are in the field of human right protection and reforming the penitentiary system in Dmytro studied law at Odesa National Law Academyfrom 1995 to 2000;gained an MA (with Distinction) in Crime Justice at the Queen’s University of Belfast (UK) in 2004; and completed a doctorate in Public Administration at Odesa Regional Institute of Public Administration (ORIPA), and National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) in 2001-2005. From 2002 to 2005 he was a Senior Lecturer at ORIPA, NAPA (Odesa), and then joined the Odessa National Maritime Academy in 2007 as Associate Professor. Since May 2006 he is an Associate Professor at He keeps writing books and journal articles and fulfils his research projects as a member of the scientific board at the SDUEP. He is a member of the editorial board of „Відновне правосуддя в Україні” (a Ukrainian quarterly newsletter), and editor of „Актуальні проблеми європейської інтеграції” (a Ukrainian academic journal).
